Orphan Education and Job Training

Tim giving a computer class at an orphanage.

We are currently working with Fúndaniños, an orphanage in San José Pínula, just outside of Guatemala City. It is home to over 70 abused, orphaned and handicapped children. Like thousands of other poor and orphaned children in this country they face immense challenges in regards to improving their status in life.

We believe that education plays an important part in giving children the opportunity for a brighter future and is the basis for bringing lasting change to a country.

To that end we work to provide these children with skills that will permanently improve their lives. Our weekly visits include:

English Classes: Speaking English in a third world country like Guatemala enables someone to receive a better job. By teaching them to speak English from a young age we are giving them the opportunity to become fluent in English in the hopes that it will further their career and help them bridge the cultural and societal gaps that are prevalent in this country.

Computer Skills: In today’s technology filled world being computer literate is a prerequisite for many jobs. Our goal is provide them with computer skills that will directly benefit them in the career they choose.

Educational and Motivational Classes: Having all the knowledge in the world is not enough if you don’t have the practical sense, personal initiative and drive to be successful. Our classes strive to instill these values in the children and give them the desire to make the most of their life, to be the best they can be and in so doing bring about lasting change in their country.

Bible Classes: We believe that by teaching them to have a personal relationship with the Lord and faith in His word, they will be ready to face the difficult challenges that will come their way and come out on top.

We believe that by giving the children these valuable skills we are planting the potential for a brighter future, not just in their lives but also in the lives of their children and hopefully the entire country.
